  WHAT HAPPENED?

  De Jong has yet to sign a new contract at Barcelona, despite one being offered, and has subsequently been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea in the Premier League. PSG, though, are said to hold real interest in signing the Netherlands international, reports, having been interested in securing his signature before he moved to Camp Nou. Barcelona would want to receive €100 million (£85m/$108m) for the midfielder this summer.

  THE BIGGER PICTURE

  Barcelona are said to be open to De Jong's sale provided an acceptable offer is made. It remains to be seen how willing they would be to allow fellow PSG target Gavi to leave; he has a contract with the club until 2026, and would surely be more expensive than his Dutch team-mate.

  PSG will free up plenty of salary space this summer if and when Kylian Mbappe leaves the club. He has communicated his desire to move on already, and it looks certain that he will be joining Real Madrid.
